25-06-2016 - DBT- SPONSORED STUDENT WORKSHOP ON- MUSHROOM CULTIVATION - TRAINING PROGRAMME-


                             
The Departments of Botany and Microbiology of Andhra Loyola College organized a DBT sponsored one day Student  Training Programme on Mushroom Cultivation in Collaboration with Tanusree Mushroom Cultivars ,Vijayawada on 25th June 2016 in the Botany Lab. Total  102 students participated actively  in this event and were well trained by the Resource persons Mr. Jayachandra and  Dr. B. Siva Kumari, DBT Coordinator ,Dept of Botany.

WORDS OF WELCOME- REV.FR. CORRESPONDENT 
 The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. S.  Raju. S.J, Correspondent of our College who encouraged the students about the training of this kind for their benefit. He stressed that there is a lot of scope for Mushroom Cultivation nowadays and about their importance in our day today lives. Later, Dr. B. Siva Kumari, DBT Coordinator explained about the nutritive values of Mushrooms. She exclaimed that Mushrooms are the good  provision for better employment to the upcoming generations.

The Resource person Mr. Jaya Chandra explained about the steps followed in Mushroom cultivation through his presentation and demonstration and hands on training. He also explained about the spawn preparation and also a glimpse about the Nanoderma prepared from the fungi Polyporus.



  
              Mr. K. Balachandra, organizing secretary, Ms. M. Glory, Dept of Microbiology, Mr. P. Srinivasa Rao, HoD, Dept. of Botany and Faculty members participated in this  programme.

24-06-2016 - DBT - SPONSORED GUEST LECTURE ON -GREEN CHEMISTRY- SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENTAL DEVELOPMENT-

                                 

Department of Chemistry in Collaboration with Departments of Botany & Micro Biology has organized  a DBT Sponsored Guest Lecture on “ Green Chemistry – Tool for the Diversity Oriented Sustainable Development” by Prof. M.V Basaveswara Rao, Dept of Chemistry, Krishna University on 24th June 2016.

The Resource Person of the programme, explained the importance of Green Chemistry and its twelve principles. He also enlightened the students in Green Chemistry by explaining the Waste Management. He said that the waste produced in one Industry can be used as a starting material for other Industry. Thus Green Chemistry reduces the Environmental Pollution. 

All the College Management Officials, , DBT Coordinator Dr. B. Siva K umarari, Dr. G.V. Ramana,  HoD of Chemistry and all the Faculty  Members  of participating Departments  were attended the programme.

23-06-2016 - “ New Frontiers in Biological Sciences”

                              

The Departments of Botany, Microbiology &  Biotechnology  organized a DBT sponsored Guest Lecture on “ New Frontiers in Biological Sciences” by Prof .S. Sita Rama Rao, Dept .of  Botany,  Osmania University, Hyd on 23rd  June, 2016 in Old Seminar Hall of our College.

          The Resource Person of the day, Prof. S. Sita Rama Rao, Dept of Botany, Osmania University, Hyd delivered his talk on the stress Physiologic through the photographic examples of various plants and their importance and survival under different stress conditions. He also encouraged the students regarding the current research issues. Research and Development is essential in the field of Biological Sciences in order to face the emerging demands for the production of various substances from the living organisms which are used for the prevention and cure of diseases in our daily life.
